Our Mission
At Common Thread, we aim to foster progress and empathy by supporting initiatives within our community that create opportunities for education and personal growth. We do this by providing supplemental educational materials to educators and community members, and by hosting and participating in events geared toward the celebration of diversity and inclusion.
Chester Pride Event
June 1, 2024
In 2023, Common Thread decided to take on the task of hosting Chester’s first ever Pride event. It was a passion project that came together in the most perfect way, welcoming hundreds of local friends and neighbors in a beautiful celebration of love and inclusion.
And an annual tradition was born.
This year’s event was fantastic! Hundreds of you came and enjoyed a fabulous, free celebration chock full of crafting, music, face painting, prizes and plenty of yummy snacks! We had a visit from an ice cream truck and our resident baker extraordinaire, Emily, baked up some gorgeous rainbow cupcakes and cookies. We also had individual bags of signature “Lov Chips” from Fresco Mexican (a Chester staple down on Main Street)! There was so much love in the Highlands Ridge Barn that day, and one of our most favorite additions to this year’s celebration were an impressive acoustic performance by local recording artist Megan Pepper, and an acapella set by the super talented West Morris Mendham High School choral group, The Treble Makers.
This amazing day showed just how supportive and inclusive Chester truly is, and we are already excited for Chester has Pride 2025!
