Our Mission
At Common Thread, we aim to foster progress and empathy by supporting initiatives within our community that create opportunities for education and personal growth. We do this by providing supplemental educational materials to educators and community members, and by hosting and participating in events geared toward the celebration of diversity and inclusion.

In 2023, Common Thread decided to take on the task of hosting Chester’s first ever Pride event. It was a passion project that came together in the most perfect way, welcoming hundreds of local friends and neighbors in a beautiful celebration of love and inclusion.
And an annual tradition was born.
Each year, hundreds of you come out and enjoy this fabulous, free celebration chock full of crafting, music, face painting, prizes and plenty of yummy snacks! We have a visit from an ice cream truck and our resident baker extraordinaire, Emily, bakes up some gorgeous rainbow cupcakes and cookies. We’ve enjoyed individual bags of signature “Lov Chips” provided by Fresco Mexican (a Chester staple down on Main Street), rainbow bagels from Gabe’s Bagels in Chester, and specially made rainbow treats from Pren Cafe in Chester!
There is always so much love in the Highlands Ridge Barn each year for Pride, and it remains our mission to provide a safe, joyous space to celebrate love in all its forms. This amazing day shows just how supportive and inclusive Chester truly is, and we hope you’ll join us again next year!
